Install issues - Installed dualboot from Ubuntu The work around is to use the custom partitioning feature on the Ubuntu I hope this will be fixed soon so a simple way to override the default swap size is available, because the current interface is not something that I would recommend to a novice user, because a simple partitioning error can easily wipe out all the data on your drive and render the system un-bootable. Things that work right out of the box - almost everything!
This Acer Aspire 5332 Intel SATA a common bug also found on many Acer models, which has already been reported. Backlight control with the Gnome taskbar gadget and power Acer Aspire 5332 Intel SATA has many more levels and works properly Things that work with minor tweaking - The Internal Microphone has no audio with default settings, but is quite easily enabled.
Acer Aspire 5332 Intel SATA still needs work - Gateway shares some hardware features with Acer, and like a lot of the current Acer models, this netbook has a boot error message due to an initialization error in the acer-wmi kernel module unlike some others, on this machine this message is NOT a fatal error, and the boot and installation will complete, with no major issues acer-wmi: Don't worry, this code just adds a simple text file 'blacklist-acer-wmi.

Back up your stuff on a good mechanical drive. Betty Pearl Aug 8, The Acer Aspire space for the drive does not offer even a fraction of the inch extra to fit a normal laptop sized SATA mechanical drive or SSD plus the smallest adapter.
They're smaller than a standard laptop SSD so with the space taken up by an adapter, they should fit in the Aspire. The most common mistake people make when getting an SSD is they get a capacity that's just enough to do the job.
It wears them out to soon sometimes in months. SSDs do not last as long as mechanical drives average 2 years vs over 10 years.
You need to upgrade to windows 7 or a recent Linux build to have any hope of supporting an SSD properly, so it don't fail in a few months. W7 or Linux is the way to go on that laptop.
The Aspire comes with only a rpm IDE drive. Get a drive with Acer Aspire 5332 Intel SATA or more cache to improve performance too. I think that Acer rpm drive only had a 2mb cache. But the speed of the SSD will far exceed the speed the laptop is capable of.

Believe me it will still look fine, but boost performance because the graphics has to work much less. But no matter what you do, it will never be able to play p or games well.
It's not my primary computer, but I still like it.
